With under weeks of the transfer window left, it is imperative that Arsenal be more direct in the transfer market. If they actually are is another thing entirely. Here’s your morning headlines.
Gunners ‘to increase Aouar bid’
Arsenal are set to significantly increase their offer for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar according to football.london.
The Gunners saw their first offer for the 22-year-old rejected out of hand on Friday, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas – one of the toughest negotiators in the transfer market – even taking to Twitter to confirm that the Gunners had come up short.
Aouar has now been included in Lyon’s squad to take on Lorient in Ligue 1 on Sunday, and as far as Aulas is concerned that means he will be staying at the club.
Jorginho to Arsenal confirmed?
Arsenal were linked with a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho last week.
The Gunners are in the market for a new midfield man during this extended transfer window, with the likes of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar heavily linked.
But Jorginho, who has not always been a favourite of Frank Lampard’s at Chelsea, emerged as a shock transfer target last week.
Manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the speculation during his Liverpool press conference on Friday.
He said: “We are still open to improve our team. We are looking for different options depending on what happens with our players here. We are getting prepared just in case we need to do something.
“I cannot open up on players that play for a different team and their qualities. It’s not appropriate.”

The Italian started both of Chelsea’s first two games of the season, but was benched by Lampard for the game against Werst Brom on Saturday evening, just days after the transfer rumours began.
And that led to plenty of talk on Twitter, from Arsenal supporters in particular.
