According to reports in France, Arsenal have been issued a warning over their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, with Lyon’s president claiming the Gunners are reluctant to meet their asking price for the French star.
The north London side have been strongly linked with a move for the 22-year-old midfielder throughout the summer transfer window.
Lyon’s president has described Aouar as the club’s ‘best player’ amid interest from Arsenal. Aouar was one of Lyon’s best players last season, playing a vital role in the club’s run to the Champions League semi-finals, and he has been described as a ‘dream signing’ for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
The clubs have been locked in negotiations for weeks and it was reported last week that Arsenal were ready to made an official bid for the player.
But it appears that has still not yet materialised, with Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas claiming the North London club are not willing to meet their price tag of the midfielder, which reportedly stands at around £45million.
And time is running out for the Premier League club, with just three weeks until the summer window closes.
“There is no offer yet,” said the Lyon president.
“It seems that Arsenal don’t want to, or can’t invest the price for Houssem, who is our best player.”
