Barcelona are open to the prospect of loaning out flop addition Philippe Coutinho in the winter transfer window, with Arsenal and Tottenham interested. In a club-record transfer, Brazil international arrived at Camp Nou in the winter transfer window of 2018 from PL giants Liverpool.
After an initial spark, though, it has been all downhill for Coutinho in Barcelona. Having fallen out of favour after his first entire campaign at the Catalan club, Philippe was loaned out to Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 season.
The 29-year-old attacker rediscovered some form with the Bundesliga giants and was reintegrated into the Blaugrana squad by the Dutch coach last year, but a severe injury cut his campaign short in December last year.
Back to full fitness now, the Brazilian attacker has played a couple of games in the new campaign but looks like a pale shadow of the footballer he once used to be. Naturally, the Blaugrana, who are mired in financial issues, are open to offloading the South American attacker as it would help them get his huge wages off their books.
The report states that the Blaugrana are hoping that the former Liverpool attacker will impress between now and the end of the year to attract suitors ahead of the winter transfer window.
With Emile Smith Rowe also present at the Spanish manager’s disposal, a move for Philippe midway through the season does not make a lot of sense for Arsenal, more so considering that the Gunners are not playing in Europe and will be involved in fewer matches than usual.
