Aston Villa are hopeful of completing the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in a deal worth around £20 million (€22m).
Martinez is set to complete his move to Villa, just six weeks after playing in Arsenal’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley at some stage next week. And putting in a excellent performance in community shied win against Liverpool.
Villa coach Dean Smith has set his sight on Martinez as £8m signing Tom Heaton is not expected to return from a knee injury until after the next international break in October.
The Arsenal goalkeeper has two years left on his Arsenal contract but Villa are offering him a chance to start the Premier League season with them as the team first choice goalkeeper.

Arsenal are currently refusing to sell Martinez, however, It is understood to have been Villa’s second proposal, of an initial £15m rising on instalments, which was accepted in principle by Arsenal.
Martinez is desperate to play regular first-team football amid doubts over whether he will remain as Arsenal’s No 1 with Bernd Leno set to return from injury this weekend for the game against Fulham.
