According to reports in Uruguay, publication reports that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has contact Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira to tell him that he is wanted in the Spanish capital before the summer transfer window shuts next month.
In addition, reporters hint that Torreira could be tempted by a move to Atletico and that’s despite looking set for a return to Italy amid links to Torino and Fiorentina.
Interest in Torreira is likely to work in Arsenal’s favour. As it will aid transfer war between the interested clubs, and might as well increase Arsenal asking price for the midfielder.
The north London outfit have signed three players so far and are looking to further strengthen their squad in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window .
Willian , who joined the club on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract at Chelsea, has signed a three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium and has since been joined by center back Gabriel Magalhaes.
Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos is back at the north London club on another season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.
But will the trio soon be saying goodbye to Torreira?
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did confirm that the club are looking to sell players in order to fund more transfers fund to sign the clubs transfer targets.
“We are trying all the time to adjust the squad in the most efficient way,” he said in his pre-West Ham United press conference.
“It is clear at the moment that it has to go both ways and in order to achieve that we still have some time but we are pretty clear in what we are trying to do.”
