Newcastle wants to sign Arsenal defender on a loan deal

There’s news today in the Mail that Newcastle are interested in 24 year-old Arsenal center-back Rob Holding on a season-long loan.
We are not sure why Steve Bruce is looking at center-backs this summer, since they already have five of them in Jamaal Lascelles, Fede Fernandez, Ciaran Clark, Fabian Schar, and Florian Leguene.
Bruce has also said he will play four at the back this season so he needs only two of them in the middle of the defense.

Let’s just say there are much higher priorities at Newcastle in this transfer window, such as bringing in strikers who can score goals. 24 year-old Rob Holding – available for season-long loan
The England U21 International is a decent enough player, with Arsenal ready to sign 22 year-old Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.
With that deal, Holding is unlikely to get many games at the Gunners this coming season as he will drop in picking order and that’s why he will be available for a season long loan.
Leeds United also said to be interested in the player.
Holding has played 78 times for the Arsenal first team, with 2 goals and he has 5 England U21 caps.
He joined Arsenal from Bolton Wanderers in 2016.
But we’re not sure he is better than the centerbacks Arsenal already have at the club.
What do you think?
