Talksports report that Premier League teams, Leeds United, Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle are all showing an interest in Calum Chambers this summer.
Newcastle and Leeds were previously two of the leading contenders for Rob Holding. When Arsenal took Holding off the market, they turned their attentions to another Arsenal center back, Chambers instead. The Gunners have reportedly put a price tag of £12m on the centre-back.
Mikel Arteta and his transfer team are trying to raise funds for the rest of their summer business, primarily a move for Houssem Aouar and probably Thomas Partey.
Though Chambers wouldn’t be their first-choice sale, as a homegrown player, he’s now in the final two years of his contract.
Returning from a long-term injury as one of many centre-back options at the club, you can see why Chambers is on the transfer list despite that homegrown status. Arsenal aren’t reliant on his return and they won’t want to run his deal down. So they will want to cash in on him.
Leeds made a particularly poor start to the season defensively, albeit against Liverpool. They never even looked close to solid at the back and may need to invest. We know Newcastle were keen on a loan for Holding, so they’ll be up there too.
