On Thursday, news broke that Arsenal were launching an in house investigation regarding funds invested in the purchase of Ivorian wing-wizard, Nicolas Pepe, with uncertainty surrounding the entirety of the funds and how it was spent.
Two days later, out of the blues, Arsenal release an official statement via the club website that Raul Sanlehi has left the club. That on its own raises some sensitive eye brows. It is difficult not to foresee the results of the Nicolas Pepe investigation as part of the reason the Spanish football director left the club.
Unconfirmed rumours say Raul got around £10m worth of commission from the Pépé deal and that could have been the reason of his dismissal. On paper and in the eye of the general public, he left the club on mutual agreement but the reality of the matter could be that he was outrightly dismissed for the appalling act.
There is no confirmation to this though with the reports unsourced and unconfirmed but with what has happened in the past couple of days, it is difficult not to believe this reports so make of it what you will.
